Pre 64 Model 70 Value?
I have decided to auction off one of my 300H&H rifles to raise some cash for a large gun show coming up in a few months. I decided that the Pre 64 was the one to go. It is in overall excellent condition but the recoil pad has been replaced.(I still have the old one in my junk box) The bore is in excellent shape and the metal looks good. There is one blemish on the forearm that detracts from the overall appearance of the stock, but I would classify it as minor; it could probably be removed by a knowledgable person. I am not certain that the rear sight is original. It is the fold down variety. The SN of the rifle is 286xxx. No scope.
I know that without photos it is difficult to attach a value but can anyone suggest a reasonable starting bid amount?

In that condition I would price it (or pay for it)as a shooter. Pre-64 collectors are really demanding on condition and shooters now have the option of the new improved Classic model. If it were mine I'd be taking it on my exotics hunts. My 7MM just doesn't roll'em the way I'd like.
