P-38 Help???

I have a P 38 that my father-in-law brought back from Germany after
WWII. There is no import markings or any kind of markings at all. The serial #3915. Right by the serial # it has a E, and looks like a Naiz eagle with a W a A 135 underneath the eagle. Can anybody tell me more information about this weapon? Thanks Yezer

    If possible, you should submit some detailed pictures as that will really help. The P-38's were serial numbered in yearly blocks and as the #'s rolled over every year without more info it is a little hard to get a handle on this one. Any value we give at this point would be VERY speculative indeed!

    The WaA135 is a Mauser Waffenamt. They didn't start making P.38's until 42 and continued after the war for the French. There are 4 places you should see the serno. Barrel, slide, locking block, and frame. A really good photo of the left side would help.

    Key letters to look for are AC, BYF, or CYQ which are Walther, Mauser, or Spreewerk codes. Those being the 3 manufactures duing the war. CyQ are the least valuable, all other things being equal. A magazine that serialized to the gun adds $75 or more and is unusual. Correct holster another $75 and of course a pristine gun can go for more than Bluebook

    Their is no markings, but the eagle with a WaA 135 underneath it right above the trigger. I don't know how to post a photo..

    No, actually Mauser made 19000 during 42 making that a pretty rare variation. Since your weapon has an "e" suffix, I would guess 43 or, most likely 44.
    You really need to search the weapon ALL over for Waffenamts. Use a loupe. You missed one on the back of your magazine. You will see (all with an eagle) 135, 359, or 77 (if 77, also look for "jvd").
    I cannot fathom why you have so few markings. The Germans were fiends on marking their weapons until the very end of the war.
