.25 rimfire ammo

Is the old 25 rimfire ammo available for sale nowadays safe and reliable enough to shoot? If so what brand would be best to use?

  Reliable... now that is a good question. Obviously, some of it could be 100+ years old, and who knows how well it has been stored for all that time. The newest original 25 Stevens rimfire ammo you are likley to find was made just prior to WW II... again, who knows how well it was stored for the past 60+ years. I personally view any complete (full) boxes as collector material, and would only be inclined to shoot cartridges from partial boxes. Even then, it is fairly expensive "plinking" ammo.

  Hello, There is reliable, safe to shoot 25 Stevens. I deal in old ammo and have Remington boxes that are mint " brick fresh ".These are probably from the 50s, I also have Canadian "Canuck" that was made in the 60s. Have both in Long and Short and they are bright and shiney as when made. The Stevens is out there but usually expensive. Here in Pennsylvania there are a lot of 25s and people buy to shoot not just collect.
