quality of Bulgarian Makarov?

OK, now that my Russian Makarov is junk (after 10 years of using it) I am considering buying a Bulgarian like new 8 round 9 X 18 mm Makarov from AIMsurplus for $150. Has anyone here had any experience with the Bulgarian makarov? Thanks.

    I have fired and stripped a few of these and find that they are not bad in the quality arena. I don't think you'll be as pleased with it as you were with your Russian or I am with my East German, but if you set aesthetics aside, they are pretty much so all the same. I feel that these guns were always meant to be utilitarian and the producers were not much concerned with the overall quality of the exterior. The trigger pull is long and hard on all of them DA but I have noticed that the SA on my Easst German seems to be much better than any other I have ever shot. Minor differences aside, as long as it is in VG+ or better shape it should be fine!

    Quality of the finish may not be as nice as the Russians, but I can't tell the difference, when firing them.

    BTW, you sometimes end up with a "Lend-Lease" Bulgarian, used by, and imported from, Bulgaria, but orginally made in Russia. I have a '76 Izhevsk like this, imported by Century.

    On average Bulgarian mfg. probably have the roughest finish, but that does not effect the shootability.

    However, $150 seems a bit high to me ... you may want to look around some before you buy your replacement pistol.

    I JUST GOT A COUPLE OF THESE IN FROM AIM. LIKE NEW COND., 4 MAGS., TWO GRIPS (THEY HAVE TO HAVE THE THUMB REST GRIP TO GET THE NESS. IMPORT POINTS). MINE SHOOTS VERY WELL (WOLF AMMO).

    Mike, (and others) thanks for the info. I have custom rubber grips I can use from my destroyed Makarov. I think I'll go ahead and get the one from AIM. At $150. I'm not risking too much.
