high standard dura matic m-101
how do these campare to the sharpshooter models,I have two of the sharpshooters,one we shoot,one NIB never fired.I have been offered a dura-matic m-101 in about 85%,hamden conn. The person wants $150,I'm not familiar enough with this model to know if thats a fair price or not

The Duramatic was their "Economy" model, no way you can compare it to the "Sharpshooters".
At 85% it wouldn't have any collectors resale value,i.e. it will always be a "shooter". If that's all you want it for the price is OK, long as you understand that it hasn't been made for over 30 years. If you ever need parts for it, or having it worked on it might get a little sticky.

wHILE NOT VERY FAMILIAR WITH THIS MODEL ( I believe it is a 1960's production? ) I would have to think that is a pretty good price, particularly for a shooter. I will check the books tonight and get back to you but the 102 in that condition are going about $500 or so. The Dura-Matic was a step down from the Super-Matic so...Sounds good to me!

Hello the dura-matic was the cheapest of the line. Some were sold thru SEARS not the same gun in any way as other HIGH STANDARDS 0 -
ok, hi std class is in session! [:D] duramatics were sold by hi std. the plinker was sold by sears as the same gun. the model gun at 150.00 is a fair price. unique feature about the gun is the grips acted as the down frame, or front and back straps. (ruger copied this idea from hi std for their gp-100 gun.) the only part of the gun that is the 'frame' is a bar of metal that acts as the action and receiver. the grips even act as the mag well! bbl takedown was a screw knob forward the trigger guard. problems were that as the grips loosened, the mag angle would change going into the receiver and it caused feed problems. the the bbl had a tendency of loosening as well. the mag was unique to the gun and other hi std mags would not fit it. the gun was designed for fishing tackle boxes to shoot snakes and the likes. it didnt get any cheaper than a duramatic. it sold well, but it was just one ugly gun. hope this helps. 0 -
Thanks for the class[:D].I think I'll offer him $100 and if he takes it ok if not O'well.That way if I dont like it I can just throw it on GB and make a buck.I would not take $500 for my sharpshooter models but I did not know anything about this model ,,,,Thanks Again 0 -
Sharpshooter...granted, I wouldn't let the 102 series Sharshooter go for that either! Actually, I don't think I would let it go at all! HA!HA! The one in the box should go upwards of $800 also, I feel. Probably best to offer what you propose and see that the issues brought up are accounted for as well! Sounds like a nice little plinker but is (and I wasn't trying to intimate that either as I thought I pointed out in my post)in no way as good as the Super-matic or sharpshooter.

Hi standard also had a d101 called the plinker also. I had a plinker for 30 years and shot the crap out of it and the only thing that gave me a problem was the grip cracked at the top rear which i repaired with two screws and epoxy. Gun parts carries almost all parts for the d101 and also replacement grips. $150.00 is a fair price and all the high standard magazines will fit including the bottom latch series as they all have the same angle and feed lips. You can not kill these little plinkers they are a great gun and as accurate as the more expensive models of the high standard. If they do not feed right all you have to do is adjust the feed lips to the specs given on the high standard web site.

the mag loading feed knob is smaller on a duramatic than all the rest of the hi std mags. 0 -
My mags from my victor will work just stick out on the bottom. All H/S have the same slant style from what i have seen the only difference is the bottom lock versis the top pushbutton lock. Some aftermarket magazines may be different though
