    My B B, values the pistol alone at $800. Being it's NIB, with accessories, plus it's rarity, I believe it would be worth substantially more.

    The .30's were never imported in any substantial quanity, because of the ammo issues you noted.

    I would contact Earl's, their a long time dealer/importer of modern collectable Walther's. Hopefully If phrase your inquiries correctly you'll get a idea of the current fair market value.

    Hi Rufe-Snow, If you're right on the $800 that would be great. The guy wants $499 and will throw in a full box of .30 Luger. Just the same, if you go to sell it then the buyers are few and far between. He's had it a year and not had one serius offer. Thanks for your feedback!

    Old Hickory;
    P.38's will bring handsom prices to the right person. As with all guns, condition is everything. I assume it is a Walther. However, I know Luger manufactured 38's for a time in the late 50's and early 60's, and most of them very chambered for the .30 Luger cartridge. In any event, These were not imported in the same numbers as the 9mm's. In the condition you state, with accessories, It will fetch, in my opinion, more than $800 to the devoted collector of all things P.38. These guys go nuts over the unusual, odd or rare P.38. I know a fellow who went to considerable expense and trouble to legally aquire a Walther P.38 machine pistol. Gun, License,tax, Jeeze. In any event, these are a bit of an oddity, not seen often and bring very handsom prices from collectors. As with all things, one has to find this person.
    Regards,
    John
