HOW TO CLEAN GRIPS ?
I have some ww2 plastic grips with numbers painted on them .How do I remove the paint without damaging the plastic ? thanks ,Mike

Before you try to remove paint think ,some mil. collectors would rather see the paint and the pistol might be worth more with paint on them . you might try different paint removers take a Q tip and put just a dab on inside where it will not show and see if it starts to eat the plastic if it does try a different brand . different plastic reacts different you don't know for sure until you try. 0 -
what gun is it? you could probably find some replacements or replica grips without the writing and preserve the old grips the way they are 0 -

sandblast them
try something organic first like citrus then work throught to the heavyer chemical stuff but make sure you are not doing more harm than good0 -
1911's are very common. There are any number of vendors at gunshows with a plethora of 1911 grips in various woods, metals, pearl, ivory, plastic, etc. from $35 on on up. Any particuler reason your wanting to preserve these grips? Perry shooter is right...some collectors might prefer them with the paint, depends on if they are collectable or not. i would first try some extra fine buffing compound and gentle rubbing , after that rinse off with water 0
