Stevens O/U restoration question

I have an old Stevens 22/410 O/U that I got from my grandpa. Great little squirrel/rabbit gun. Its history (stolen from the house in the 60's, used in a robbery and murder, and eventually returned by the police) has resulted in its condition being other than ideal. Apparently whoever stole it covered all the metal surfaces with several coats of clumpy blue/grey paint. Although it works great, it looks UGLY. I'd appreciate it if anyone could give me some direction on how to proceed with removing the paint and re-bluing it. Thanks.

    REMOVING THE PAINT IS EASY, SOAK THE METAL PARTS ONLY IN LAQUER THINNER (THIS WILL TAKE OFF ALMOST ANYTHING). A GOOD REBLUE WILL MEAN A TRIP TO THE GUNSMITH. OR YOU CAN TRY ONE OF THE COLD BLUES (I LIKE BROWNELLS DICROPAN IM BEST, OR BLUE WONDER)

    Buy paint remover at the hardware store. Remove the wood from the gun. Use paint remover per instructions on the can. Refinish metal as suggested by by Mike W. If the wood looks bad, you might want to use the paint remover on it too and refinish it as you would any other wood. Some of these guns had plastic stocks called Tenite. I had one and wouldn't recco using paint remover on the plastic. Blue Wonder is expensive and not reliable in my experience. Hope this helps.
