Ar15 Mags.
I had gotten some colt ar15 mags the other day, and was wondering how to tell if they are preban or not?

All post ban magazine will be clearly marked: RESTRICTED/EXPORT/GOVT. OR LAW ENFORCEMENT USE ONLY (or something like this) as well as being stamped with the production date which would have to be after September 13, 1993. If the magazine bears no such markings it is considered preban if already inside the United States (importing is a totally different matter).

i have a related question, you said importing of hicap magazines is a different story, i have a 30 round ar-15 magazine that i bought brand new less than 6 months ago, it is one of those british steel mags with the light grey finish, how are these magazines imported????? 0 -
A licensed importer must provide to United States Customs supporting documentation (like production records or military procurement documents) that the magazines being imported were produced prior to September 13, 1993 and certify on a US Customs Form (the form number escapes me at the moment) that the magazines being imported are compliant.
