Does anyone out there know if the military M-6 .22 hornet over .410 has ever been classified as a C&R?? They were made for the U.S.A.F. by Ithaca.

C & R, wouldn't make a bit of difference. The barrels are still 14" long. You would still have to get Tax stamp for it, If it had been registered prior or during the amnesty in 1968. I don't believe you could retroactively register one.

The original M6 rifles are C&R firearms but as rufe-snow has already mentioned these are National Firearms Act weapons by virtue of their 14-1/2" barrels and needed registration prior to the 1968 ammnesty. There are however some original M6s which have had their barrels permanently sleeved to bring them to over the 18" minimum length for shotguns (16" for rifles) and are no longer considered NFA weapons. The BATFE has held that these "stretched" M6s are still C&R firearms so long as they are original US military production items. Current versions of the M6, such as those from Springfield Armory Inc., may be registered (for $200) and then shortened, but these are not currently C&R eligible...you'll have to wait 50 years!

Interestingly enough there is one of these M6 survival weapons on auction here at Gun Broker right now: Item number 18132675, produced by Harrington and Richardson, at a starting price of $2500 or you can "BUY IT NOW" for just $3200.
