Parker Hale rifle questions
I recently picked up a Parker Hale bolt action Rifle in .22-250. It has the heavy varmint barrel with no sights, serial #899xx. The seller thought it was made in the 50s or 60s. There is no model name or number on it. I have not been able to find out much about the rifle or the company. Can anyone help me id the model and year it was made, and what reputation do these Parker Hales have?

I don't have my books with me so I can't help much other then state I have owned several built in the 1967-69 years. Wood was great, free floating barrel and very accurate. The bolt feels very loose until in battery, but lock up seems quite good. I've never had any problem with them but only shoot a couple hundred rounds per year. Past posting I have read here seem to be like my experience. I'm sure some of the dealers will know the history here on the board.

Parker-Hale sold rifles built on the Spanish "Santa Barbara" Mauser action from the 1960's until Gibbs bought them out in 1990.
The early models chambered for the 22-250 were called "1200V". Later they made a "Model 81" also chambered in 22-250.
My WAG is that you got the early one, made in the 60's/70's .
