pre-64 m70 safety

I just got a like new pre-64 m70 Winchester that has a safety stuck on "fire". Any ideas?

    One possible cause: Have you cycled the bolt? Once "fired" the safety will automatically "lock-up" on "fire" until the firing pin has been re-engaged. Then it will freely move to all three positions (if there's not other problems).

    When your only tool is a hammer, all problems begin to resemble nails.
