The B B has a number of different models of Healthways "Plainsman" mentioned/pictured. They date from 50's. To my uneducated eye they all pretty much look the same.

    Value for NIB, runs $100 - $150.

    Hey rufe-snow,

While we are on the subject, I have a Crossman model lll s/n 278141 that I found in the back of a '53 Studebaker back in '56. It's 177 cal and is charged with a pressure tank about 3" dia an 10" long.

    Any idea what it's worth?

Dates from the early 50's according to the book. Worth up to $250, depending on condition, WITH the original CO2 tank.

The Healthways Plainsman had a small following although it was decent quality. They were listed in all the Stoeger Catalogues. Having the box helps value by about $30 - 40 but, their is not a big follwing for that comapany. It's just like having a Savage that's in great shape, it will never equal the value of a comparable Winchester/Colt . 100 to 150 seems possible. Air guns are definitely collected by more and more people. Also, somebody that owned a plainsman in the 50/60 era may want it for nostalgia. Good luck!

Old Hickory...Thanks for responding. This thing actually has 1 CO2 cylinder that is original; I think it's never been fired! Seems like adecent quality piece and with the box...who knows. I think I'll be putting this up for sale. Should I have it here on Gunbroker or do you think there is a website that would be more applicable for airguns only? Thanks again and I'll keep an eye peeled for your response!

Say 1Kydster, I Checked in the second Blue Book of Airgun values and I think they said $95 - $125 and maybe 25% more with box and papers. The healthways Company was bought out by Marksman who made a cheap .45 BBpistol that was fairly popular. I doubt if a generalist in air gun collecting would pay that much but their is a corp of collectors that really snap up any older material that comes with the box. You have to assume that maybe only 1 out of 500 people who bought these kept the box, so that is a real plus !

Thanks Hickory...sound opinion there! I believe I will fire up the old "marketing machune" and see if I cannot find one of those few people that value the NIB thing! Thanks again!

Hi, I have just recently found a pistol bb gun in my home. It's a Plainsman .175 (healthways). I was wondering if anyone know the history/year of this pistol. If anyone do know the history please let me know.

    Thank you.
