I would like an estimate of the value of a couple of my guns for insurance purposes.

    I would like some help on where to go to get values of rifles and guns. My dad had many but passed away recently and we would like to get values on them, however I dont know the first place to look!
    I wont list all info on them, but just the basics:

    Browning 22 long made in Belgium w/Bushnel 4x custom 22 scope
    Winchester new haven 22 long/short Mod.6 Patent Jan.29, 1901
    Winchester 22 long/short Mod. 6 Stainless Steel
    Remington 7mm mag.model 700 w/ Leopold scope
    Savage 20 gauge 3' model 330
    Smith&Wesson 357 magnum
    Colt 22 longs woodsman 84633-Z, Spain mod. 1-80 9mm para interarms
    1916 German Lugar
    Browning 380 cal.9 short/380 made in Italy
    Rossi revolver interarms 38 special made in Brazil

    If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thank you!

    ON THIS SITE, GO TO 'SEARCH" TYPE IN YOUR MAKE AND MODEL AND YOU WILL SEE HOW YOUR TYPE OF GUNS ARE SELLING. ALSO GET A "BLUE BOOK'

    I WOULD RATHER BE DUCK HUNTING.

    you can also go to guns of america or auction a r m s on the web and type in your gun and see what others are selling/buying for. Except for the German Luger, the rest of your list is common variety. The Luger may be of value. Look for local appraisers to estimate the value, or take pictures and post here.

    Many, if not most libraries, in their reference section, have books such as the Standard Catalog of Firearms and the Blue Book of Gun Values (to mention but a couple). And if they don't, odds are good that they belong to an inter-library lending system and can order the books in.

    Go to your local library, explain that your trying to put an "estate value" on your father's gun collection and ask for their help in getting started in using their reference section and/or ordering books from the inter-library system.

    Using the library is a low to no cost approach and uless your going to get into collecting there is little need for you to buy the books.

    Midway-The reloading company has The Blue book on sale for about 25 bucks plus shipping-A small price to pay to find out what your guns are worth-Voice of experience here-I recently sold several guns at a gun show for what amounted to hundreds of dollars less than what they should have sold for-I hadn't been to a show in several years due to having to work on weekends-I started to wonder when stuff was flying off my table when others were complaining about slow sales, but what was even more amazing was that some people were so tight that they let some REALLY good deals go by. (Lucky for me!)
