Browning Double Auto
I think I am going to try to find a Browning Double Auto shotgun. I found a few on Gun Broker, but most of them are running between 400-600 dollars. Is this a fair price, or do you guys think I might find one a little less expensive? Any opinions on these guns?

The double auto is a great gun too shoot, and it is a Browning, so it can't be too bad. The only thing I have found with mine, it is really sensetive to fouling in the gas chamber, so you really gotta keep it clean. That means cleaning every time you use it. If you do that, you'll have hours of great shooting with a really unique shotgun.

sorry bigbarn but a browning d. auto isnt gas, its short recoil. it never fouls. i collected d autos. had all the colors etc.. folks, im sorry, but the d. auto was a flop. only around 46000 were made in 17 years of mfg. they were horrible guns to shoot. they only held 2 shells and kicked like a bull with its nads tied off. they had a bad habit of cracking stocks and forearms. the one reason i liked them was it was a speed loader. it could be loaded from both sides L&R. for skeet or trap they were ok, but for hunting? missing that 3rd shell hurts. hunters like them because they are light. the trade off is they kick! 400 to 600 is fair. perfect guns go for over 1000.00. rare colored guns go for over 2000.00. i owned the green one that use to be in the browning corp headquarters lobby. it sold for big $$$$$! ask anything you want on a d. auto. i will set you straight and tell you if its a parts gun or mismatched with seeing just one photo and having the serial number. [;)]

I had one ,hated it,cracked two forearms in two years and did not shoot it much,traded it for a springfield 1911 mil-spec 0 -
my ky friend: the going price is exactly what youve seen, great gun for the money!!! if you live in ky?,before you buy, come to national gun day in louisville ky this june 12th13th at freedom hall, southwing, 3000 table gun show and shop till you drop! wear soft shoes and be prepared to walk. you may see 200 things you like equal or better!!! 0 -
Thanks for the advice, so far. Bobski, thanks again to you for your input. In the past few years that I have participated in the boards that you frequent (actually only this one and onw other one), I have really grown to respect your opinion. You talked me out of buying an EAA Over/Under about two months ago (glad I didn't buy one) and I ended up getting a Beretta Whitewing that I am TOTALLY pleased with. If I pass on a Browning DBL Auto, I wonder what gun will come my way!! Thanks again.

I've known a couple people that had them. They both inherited them and wouldn't sell them for that reason, but they both said the same thing "they combined the worst of both worlds - two shots like a double barrel, with all the working parts of a semi-auto".
My only experience personally with them was pheasant hunting years ago the guy had one and wasn't having very good luck with it and after I limited out I let him borrow my Benelli SBE while I drove the birds and carried his (unloaded however, since I had already limited). Incidentally, he was something like 75% shooting my SBE and guess what he now pheasant and waterfowl hunts with - the SBE! [:D]
He does still use his 28 gauge Citori for small birds and mammals.0
