UZI question
What is the difference between an UZI model A and a model B??? Thanks.

I believe the difference is that the Model A fires from an open bolt position and the Model B fires from a closed bolt position. [8D]

Physically there are no real differences visable on the weapons exterior. Both versions fire frm a closed bolt due to the fact that the BATFE Imports Branch had long ago discontinued allowing the importation of open bolt designs. The bolts are different between the two versions, the ejector on the Model A is fuctionally the same as the SMG while the Model B ejector is shorter, and the sights on the Model A are regulated for a 10" barrel while the Model B sights are regulated for the 16" barrel which these weapons were provided with. There are a few other very slight differences, but the three mentioned are about the total extent of the changes from A to B. Ranchero Paul is our UZI expert but I have not seen him post since I returned home from Europe last month...where are you Paul???

You are a great source of "Un-Ending" knowledge of many different
guns and gun laws.
I certainly appreciate the replies/answers that you have given me
on board and in more recent times, through personal emails.
The "Ask The Expert" forum still has some "Actual" gun related
discussions. But as one other member, who offered much to discussions on
GunBroker told me; when I asked why he no longer spent time and posted
on Discussion forum:
"It has become a "Dysfunctional" family atmosphere and he is correct.
I'm sure when you look at the Member list of those who no longer participate,
you also see many who had much to offer and were not concerned with:
Arguing about any and everything, ie. politics, religion, ethnicity, NRA, etc.
Ranchero Pauls exit from GunBroker is a loss, for the knowledge that
he had to offer.
I would certainly rather see his posts, than the non-gun related posts of
his accuser.
RancheroPaul stated that he was not guilty of what he was accused.
Anybody that knows him personally, sure's Hell would never question his
integrity or honesty. He may at times seem unorthodoxed, but he is not
going to waste his time on the frivolous.
I may have had my differences with him, but his knowledge/posts are sorely
missed by this forum.

One other minor difference was the the way the blocking bar was attached. In the model "A" the blocking bar was only tac welded. In the model "B" the bar was attached with a continous bead. This was also done to make the folks at the ATF sleep better.

Nothing to do with this question but have noticed receivers are still around for UZIs but parts kits are hard to come by. Last year could buy all I wanted for $130..now $200 if you can find.

You can still find them reasonably cheap, but you've got to look hard. I purchased one a couple of months ago for $125.00 shipped with a like new QD wood stock.
