Stevens boy's rifles stocks

On auction boards I occasionally see a Steven's boy's rifle (e.g., Crackshot, Favorite, Little Scout) with a pistol-grip stock. A couple of times the bidding has gone way nuts on these rifles, apparently because someone thinks they're special. Does anyone know if the boy's rifles ever came with a pistol-grip stock? My guess is these guns have been retrofitted with a later stock. Any comments?[?]
