new to guns
I just received a revolver that was my grandmother's. On the barrel is "model 732 32 s & W." On the "body" (or what do you call it?), is H & R Inc. USA. Does someone out there have any information on this revolver? I would appreciate it. Thank you!

First, you have to decide what you want to hunt. If its birds, then a shotgun will work.
If you know nothing about guns, I would suggest taking a gun safety course. You need to learn safe handling and storage of your gun.

Great advice so far. Give us a little more detailed description, and these folks will help you out. I would suggest finding a mentor. Someone who you respect that has some experience. Not an "expert", just an individual who has familiarity with firearms, and is willing to help you out. If they'll allow you (with supervision) to shoot their firearms, you will pick up a great deal. Good hunting partners are not only good friends; but often are a safer way to hunt. We appreciate your candor regarding the extent of your firearm knowledge. The hunt for the right firearm is often just as rewarding as the use after the purchase. Take your time, most shotgun hunting won't roll around until fall, so you have a few months to look, learn, purchase, and then practice.0 -
If you are planning on getting a shotgun I would suggest buying a 12 or 20 gauge. The 12 gauge is the most popular shotgun caliber around and you can use it for practically anything (it maybe a little overkill for squirrels or doves) and all gun companies that sell shotguns make 12 gauge models. For a beginner like yourself maybe a 20 gauge would be better because it has less kick and noise. A pump-action is would also be good for a beginner because they hold more shells than a double barrel and usually cost less than double barrel shotguns. A 20gauge Remington 870 would probably suit your needs perfectly and you can get one for about $300. Lastly, if you don't have much experiance with guns go to a shooting range that has shooting instructors to help you learn how to shoot properly and safely.

I was going to say after doing gun safetly, that he may want to start with a nice double barrel 12 or 20 just because there so easy to clean for a begginer.
However pumps are usualy alot cheeper, just dont buy a pos mosberg.0 -
Hey Bryant by far the gun safety course is the way to go,also by watching different hunting shows and watching the outdoor channel you can learn what gun is good for what animal plus there always talking about safety tip....Just rememeber its an empty that always kills be careful. 0 -

GUN/HUNTER SAFETY COURSE !!! do that first . then go to a gun shop and get some opinions and see what fits you and your budget . i would recomend a remington 870 20 gauge .
