Update

Forgot to provide background for folks.
Bigbarn, one of the forum members, is trying to help a local museum catalog some donated firearms. He can't post the pix, so I am doing it and I include what ever descriptive info. that he passes me along with the image files. Or, Bigbarn will post a reply with the info.
I'm sure that anything that anyone can provide relatve to history, rough value, etc. will be sincerely appreciated.

Not much to go on with this one. Bigbarn did provide me with info. on what little is marked on the gun. Which is:
No Serial Number
Wm. Shaffer Boston on Barrels
Appears to be 10ga.
28 inch damascus barrels

If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

William Schaefer was a well known maker and importer, do you have a question? 0 -
Yes MP, I am trying to identify these guns for my local museum, and would appreciate any and all info you might be able to provide. My knoledge, and information about these guns is limited at best, so any thing you can add would help.
As always, thanks to all that have given their time to help with this.

Schaefer did everything from building guns to working on them. He also imported guns with his name on them. He re-barreled some guns by other makers. It's hard to tell a lot from the picture, is the Schaefer name on the locks? If you can email me at mjpetrov@acsalaska.net I'll try to be more helpful. Everyone who collects and studies shotguns has a favorite maker, mine is Schaefer. 0
