Burris Scope Question?
I'm thinking about picking up one of the Burris Fullfield 2 & Spotting scope combos. I have had great experience in the past with Leupold, Weaver and Simmons when I have had to send a scope back. How does Burris rate as far as their waranty on their scope. Also how does the Fullfield 2 size up? The 3x9x40, is it closer to a

Hello ern98, I have used Leupold scopes for many years, but last year I purchased a Burris Fullfield II 3-9X40 scope. I was amazed at the sharpness of the scope, everybit as good as a Leupold Vari II. I can not comment on how the warranty service would be because I have not had to get any warranty work done. This fall I may purchase another scope, and it will probably be another Burris Fullfield II. Please have a great day! [:)]

I've had Burris, Weaver, and Leupold. I have several more of the Burris. Last year I had a 6x24 that the reticle started roaming around. I called Burris, and told them the problem, they said send it in. I did, and they fixed it free, and shipped it back in a new box. Then I had a two year old pair of binos, that were water resistant, and they goit water in them. I wrote them agin asking for them to fix them, and i'd pay for it.They said that that model no longer was in there sales so they sent me a brand new set of binos of a better quality than I had sent in. I think that they have great customer service. 0 -
A Friend of mine got one of them combos, Their GREAT, I have one Burris scope and its great, had to send it in once fer repair, Got it back in about 6 weeks, found out later that it was the Rifle that had the problem not the scope. I have a lot of Leupolds, wont buy any more. Burris are better for the money. 0 -
I have been using Burris scopes for 20 yrs and have been really happy with their products and costomer service. I have bought that combo pack and I think it's the best $200 deal around[:D]

ern98,IMHO,the Fullfield II 3-9 X 40 is a fine scope for the money. I purchased one last November for the new .270 WSM Remington 700,which I won here in last year's "rifle giveaway". It has the ballistic-plex reticle,which I would recommend. It allows for ranging out to 600 yards,or so.
I took it to Texas in January and was able to consistently hit targets(non-game) at 550 and 850 yards-something I'd never attempted before and was very impressed by!
I purchased the scope from riflescopes.com (SWFA) for around $240.00,which included rings,bases,shipping and the free 20x50 spotting scope. I believe Natchez has the same deal,also.
The only complaint I would have is that the scope is made in the Phillipines and the spotter made in China. Burris' website claims their products are "Made in USA",which I found rather misleading. Don't know if this matters to you.
I have 2 Leupold variX-III's and am very happy with them. Also,just purchased a new Leupold "rifleman" 3-9x40 at Wal-mart for $199.00. All Leupold's are USA made and have the full lifetime warranty, Not sure about Burris as I haven't had to use it. Of course haven't used Leupold's either as I've never had a problem with them.
The main difference between a $200.00 scope and a $500.00 scope is the quality of the glass and the amount/quality of the coatings. You'll see that some are "coated","multi-coated" or "fully-multi-coated",with the latter being the best,thus,most expensive,of the three.
Depending on your budget,I would consider the Leupold VX-II,Burris Signature and maybe Ziess Conquest. Good luck and have fun shopping!

Hello bigt7mm, would you clarify several things stated in your posted message? 1. Do you know as a fact that the Burris Fullfield II 3-9X40 scope is manufactured in the Phillipines? 2. Are Leupold scopes manufactured in the United States using componets that are only manufactured in the United States? You seem to have much knowlege about scopes and hope that you can answer these two questions. Thanks in advance and please have a great weekend!

Tejas,#1,yes,as stated on the box,and on the scope,in case one would miss it on the box. #2,yes, according to Leupold. I'm pretty sure Burris' Signature scopes are made here. Also,I have heard,or read,that Zeiss Conquest are assembled here using Zeiss components. I am certainly no expert,but have used many scopes and did a lot of research before buying as I can't afford to buy many $300-$600 scopes. IMO,there are many quality scopes available,and,if given a choice,I'd prefer to buy one made here.[;)]

i was recently at a vender that offered the fullfield II's and was surprised to see the gloss version was marked made in usa and the silver and matte were not ( it could well have been the phillipenes, I just cant recall ) the main reason I was there was to look for a pair of the freshly advertised burris rangefinding binoculars (initially wanted the leupold binos, but just couldnt swallow spending $600 when I saw they were manufactured in china )...anyway the burris rangefiding bino's were sold and when i asked wear they were made the response was "that particuar pair was made in canada "...for the record I think the fullfields are better optically then the fullfield II's, but i like the size and focus better on the newer ones 0 -

Thank you one and all, I ordered the package today. I have a number of the $500 variety scopes, Leupold & such. In this case I'm looking for something that will fill the need and not break the bank. I expect that I will be please with the purchase. I have in the past been disapointed with the whole made in America stick as I was later to find out that it is often the case that the only thing made in America was the "Made in America" sticker...... 0
