Remington UMC
My mother in law has a Remington UMC pump 22, serial number 260XXX. The only markings on it is Remington UMC and the serial number. I would like to know when it was made.

could someone tell me something about a remington 12 gauge. ON the top it has Browining's patents Oct 9, 1900, Dec 17, 1901, Sept 30,1902,June 16,1909. I think the serial number is 165977. Thanks for any help. 0 -
major,
Remington used a date code(not serial#)to date their guns from 1921-1972.Look on the left side of the barrel, just in front of the reciever. You should find the 2 or 3 digit code. It's pretty small so it may be hard to see.If you can give us that,we can help.
Thanks,
BW
IT'S WHAT PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THEMSELVES THAT MAKES THEM AFRAID.0 -
I searched the whole rifle and there was no number. I should have mentioned also that it came apart in the middle and is still in the original wooden carrying case. 0 -
You might try e-mailing Remington from this site. Have patience it's a nonintuitive, difficult site to navigate.

As the previous poster noted Remington started dating their products in the early 20's. Since your pump could have been manufactured substantially earlier, it wouldn't necessarily be dated.

Sounds like a Model 12
Does it have a round or octagonal barrel?
It must be well worn, rusty or heavily buffed not to have barrel markings and model number on the left side of the receiver.0 -
Your model 12 was made in 1914 (plus or minus a year). 0
