Browning Update

I need some help on a firearm that failed, figured some of you may have dealt with this before. I have a Browning A-500r that was NIB until last week. Customer took it out, on the 5th shot(factory lead #6shot), the weld that holds the barrel to the recoil lug failed, and blew the barrel halfway back into the receiver destroying it. Needless to say the shotguns now DOA.
NOW the problem. Called Browning and there responce was basically "to bad so sad". They no longer deal with the A-500's and want nothing to do with it, even though its clearly a factory problem. Any ideas on how/who to aproach with this?
Talked to Jackie Love as recomended by the experts. She was very nice, said send the shotgun in so they could take a look. Yup, factory problem. Opps, we no longer deal with that model. They gave me a list of gunsmith that work on them at my expense. Guess they forgot they just told me the receivers destroyed. Sent the gun back minus the original box. I guess I get to chalk this one up as one learned. You want Browning quality, buy an old one. Ive emailed every Browning customer service/ceo I could get an email for stating my dissapointment. Anyone have any other ideas??
Thanks,
Kolt

Consumer Affairs or small claims court? 0 -
Strikes me that the problem is that the A-500R is a older model, that hasn't been made in years.
New in the box or not, nothing is sold with a forever guarantee.
If you can get them to admit "IN WRITING" that there was a manufacturing error when the shotgun was originally made, your case would be a heck of a lot stronger. My two cents.

That seems to be my problem. Even though it was a new firearm, because of the fact its out of production is hanging things up. I don't really want to sue them over it. I guess I was hoping Browning would back thier product, when it was clearly a factory problem.
Thanks all,
Kolt

this is what happens when america goes global. they call it globalization...where everyone is equal and everyone is one. doesnt work. you got 3rd world countries building guns with no QA or serious inspectors watching. thus, you get poor quality guns. browning was smart to export/import with belgium and japan...because they were QUALITY people by nature. the rest of the world isnt. and thats why you get a-500's and the like. once in house QA moves out, quality goes down. you think browning cares? they got their summer cottages and rolls royces. you mean nothing. sad truth to big time corp greed. sorry to hear your story. 0 -
My girlfriend is a lawyer and I posed your question to her. For a 15 dollar filing fee you can sue them in small claims court. Bring any paperwork and get it set in front of a judge that's a hunter. He can override any Browning excuses and you can defend yourself. You'd be amazed at how simple it is. My guess is that Browning, rather than go through the expense of hiring an attorney, etc., will make good. Good luck! 0 -
I also got a flim flam from Jackie Love and her technical "expert"
on a design defect in a B92.
They just walk away from responsibility and get away with it with a "We dont support that model or s/n anymore". Funny their owners booklet states no time warranty on durability or manufacturers' defects.
Funny, other durable goods manufacturers get nailed in court when their products fail and cause injury.0
