New Gun safe recommendations
Got to cold across the ocean I reckon so Brother Comrade moved here and had to lock my original Gun Safe topic before I could respond. First off, thanks for everyones suggestions. I have two Homaks but dont feel they are secure enough, thus why I want something else.

Yes, as my last post said - it depends on why you need a safe. Homak for little kids is OK. You or I would have a chore breaking into even the inexpensive Sentry. That's what I think you are looking for. On the other hand, a pro can break into anything.

slow down!!! consider what you need in a safe! how many guns? available room for the safe? heat protection and im sorry to say , crime element in your city!!!! all safes are rated by temp / 1/2or 1 hour subjected to degrees. its up to you to decide the size or gun capacity and strength. personally i have a granite safe that has been excellant fo a number of years! i also have a lower priced oxbow that serves me well. i made the mistake on my first one and bought a winchester, because of name, ouch!!! on the price!!! come to find out the winchester was made by some one else! and i could have bought it with the factory name and not winchester for a lot less!!!!shop-compare-and SAVE!!!!!! 0 -
dont feel bad about the winchester safe.I have one also but got lucky and bought it at an auction for 1/2 the price my local shop sells them far,"I paid $850".3 months later I found the exact same safe,same fire rating and color and everything at SAMS Club for $700 just under the name Excalibur made by the Fort Worth safe company,so I bought it too. 0 -

It depends on how much protection you are looking for. Liberty makes a wide range of safes. Your typical thief will take small items that can be sold quickly, they want to get in and get out. Any quality safe will prevent this. But a pro can get into anything. When buying a safe you need to consider how many guns, fire protecton, and where you will locate your safe. Fort Knox, Liberty, and Champion all make good safes you just need to pick one thats right for you. A quality safe can weigh 500lbs and up. If you are going to deliver it yourself make sure you have the proper equipment. If its going in the basement make sure that yor steps can handle the weight. 0 -
I have a Winchester 60x30 myself with the 1500f 30 min rating. It was made by Meilink safe company in Indiana. It has the S&G lock and the drill proof safety in it. I bolted it to the floor and don't think anybody will be jerking it loose with a chain and darn sure won't pack it off. Of course, anybody with ample time and a handheld concrete saw will slice ANY safe open and empty it. BUT, the common criminal/burglar, is too damn stupid and lazy to figure that one out,or they would have a more honest line of work.[;)]

I have Frontier safe. Forget the model, but I bought it thru a distributer. It is a great safe and I thought the price was good as well. They have a web site. Only thing is is that they are heavy so be sure your floor will hold it.
