General rule of thumb is that medium height rings will be high enough to clear a 50mm objective off of the barrel with a 1" tube scope. For 52mm and larger with the 1" tube go to high rings. -- Your 30mm tube should set it up slightly higher. This doesn't mean that it will set at the optimum height for you to look through the scope. For example, people with a longer neck may be more comfortable looking through the same scope set in high rings, etc. --- Hope this helps......[8D] -- PS = I have a Rem.700 with a heavy barrel, a 3x12x52mm with a 30mm tube set in Redfield base and high rings(standard front twist in/dovetail rings) and it fits me well, but I'm very tall with one of those long necks..[:D]......Good Luck...............................

I'm real sure you are going to have to use the high rings, almost 100% sure that mediums won't clear the barrel. I have a 3-12 x 52mm in a 30mm tube in high rings on a standard sporter barrel and there's not a lot of room left. Also have a 3-9 x 50mm in 1" tube in medium rings on a sporter barrel that is even closer ( .125" ) so I think you'll have to go high rings.

high rings,...the extra high will be too tall. I would suggest you look at the leupold PRW bases and rings,..they are far superior in strength than the dovetail front/windage rear style.

why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
