Bushmaster AR-10
Really interested in the new Bushmaster AR-10's chambered in .308 only price I have seen for them is retail from Bushmaster which is 1700.00. I don't believe they will hold this value because armor-lite has the AR-10 for like half of that price. When can we expect to see them in gun shops and on gunbroker? Thanks

never pay attention to the suggested retail for anything. I cant imagine they will sell for what armalite wants for theirs. 0 -
Yes, but based on the armor-lite AR-15 vs. the Bushmaster AR-15 prices I was thinking it would stay in the neighborhood for the AR-10's. 0 -
The company is called "Armalite". As to prices and "when will we see them in gun shops", go to a gun shop and ask if they can order one in for you. If you're nice, they may even tell you what the wholesale price is. 0 -
ANyone seen any at local shops? I have searched GB. 0 -
It seems to be a fact of life that new firearms are announced and then take months or years to come to market, and some never do. I waited about a year to get my first ArmaLite AR-10A2 after ArmaLite announced it.
As with the term "AR-15," which is a Colt-only name and product, the term "AR-10" is owned by ArmaLite, so it cannot be applied to anything but an ArmaLite product. (Note the "L" in ArmaLite is properly upper case.)
Bushmaster calls its .308 AR-10-type rifle, the "BAR-10," so if the poster is asking around for a Bushmaster AR-10, there is no such thing. Call Bushmaster customer service at 800-883-6229 and see what is given as the projected delivery date. Then add a half year or so. I suspect fall or later, and that is probably optimistic.
To me, the best feature of the BAR-10 is the ability to use FN-FAL-type magazines, which are readily available at bargain prices.
The BAR-10 street price probably will be very much in line with ArmaLite, so if you want a .308 AR-15-type rifle, why not buy the "real" thing now? (Where can you buy ArmaLite AR-10 rifles for $850, half of the $1,700 mentioned? I would be interested in a carload or two!) Of course, the first batch of BAR-10 rifles will probably command a premium price over what will come later when they are more readily available, so expect to pay more for an early BAR-10 than what an ArmaLite AR-10 would cost now.0
