There seems to be a lot of gray areas on what one can and what one cannot ad, modify, or remove from the Yugo SKS and still be legal.
So, I thought I would pose two of my questions to the Experts:
1. Is it legal to replace the fixed 10 round magazine with a fixed
20 round magazine on the Yugo SKS?
2. Is it legal to install an aftermarket MonteCarlo stock on a Yugo
SKS and if so, is it legal with a fixed 20 round magazine?
These questions are in reference to a Yugo SKS retaining all it's original features as issued (bayonet, grenade sight, etc.)except for those being replaced. Have been getting all kinds of conflicting answers.
Thanks.

If you get a Yugo SKS with the grenade launcher and bayo you can not (may not) put a removable magazine on it, I believe. You would be creating an assault rifle and the ATF really frowns upon that. 0 -
I have yet to hear of an SKS owner that had any Luck with Reliability when changing to a removable DuckBill Mag.
Keep the Fixed 10 round mag. Learn and Practice using Stripper Clips.
You can become very Proficient with Stripper Clips and Practice.

im not 100% sure and by no means am i an attorney, but i beleive a yugo is a post-ban weapon and can only handle certain modifications and detach mags are not one of them. by the way, most detachable mags are not reliable and many on the market now are junk! stay with your fixed box mag and be dependable! 0
