Sig pistol quality
My local shop just got in 3 Sig pistols, 2 used and one new. The used ones are both 9mm, the new one is one of their new 40 cal. Sorry, I don't remember the model numbers of the guns. My question is, are they really all that good? I know some people love them, what makes them so good? They're priced like Glocks, in fact the two used ones are a little higher than the new one. Are they really good quality guns worth the high price? I got some money coming in soon and it's already burning a hole in my pocket. By the way, I'm looking for a shooter, something I can take out and target shoot with.

I have owned and carried (both CCW and on duty when I was an LEO) SIGs, HKs, Glocks and S&Ws. IMHO, the SIGs will out shoot everything else right out of the box and I never had a failure to feed in any of them. I carried 226s (9 and 40), a 228, and a 220. I have a 220, converted to DAO, that is my "big" CCW gun now. The Kahr PM40 is my "small" CCW gun now. I think SIGs are the best out-of-the box guns. 0 -
Char is right. Sigs are very accurate right out of the box, extremely reliable, and the quality is as good as many custom guns. The Seceret Service and many law enforcement agencies use Sigs so they have to be good guns. 0 -
I don't remember the model numbers, but the two used 9mm guns are around $475, the new 40 is the plastic frame gun and is around $440.

I bought a Sig P228 a couple of years ago when I decided I needed a 9mm semi. I did a lot of research on these guns. My #2 gun would have been a Glock 19, but here is why I chose the Sig:
1. DA/SA capability, as opposed to Glock's DA only.
2. Thumb decocker, easily decocked.
3. No weird safeties, like on a Ruger P89 or Beretta 92F (I personally don't like safeties, I feel it makes people lazy and they get careless. I always wan't to be very aware of the fact that I am carrying a loaded firearm.)
4. Good enough for the military, the military calls it the "M11".

At first sight I thought this thread was a joke.[;)]I worked for a DOE contractor. We had HK rifles HK machine guns and Sig p-226 pistols. So needless to say if they were willing to fork out the cash they wanted the best. The Sig is a very smooth shooting gun. Nice trigger pull, good ergonomics, fits well in your hand and is easy to get back on target. If I were to buy another handgun it would be the Sig. I had one but sold it to get a AR-15, worst decision of my gun buying efforts. Get a Sig and never look back.[:D] 0 -
I picked up a Sig 225 9mm at a gun show several years ago, it has been the most accurate handgun I have ever shot, and it functions flawlessly. 0 -
The Sig P series is what all semi auto pistols wantabe when they grow up!!!!

My carry gun is a 226, I think they are worth the money.
Put 1000's of rounds through it and have yet to have ANY problem.
Also have a 220 that has not let me down yet.
The 226 is the sidearm for one of the "elite" special forces units, the
U.S. Navy Seals.

That should tell you something.
The HK is the other, most requested sidearm, for special forces.

i own an astra sig copy and for the money i gotta say it shoots aswell as any sig i've ever shot. i paid 150 for it and i've shot every kind of ammo through it i could find. +p and all. i must say sigs are great guns, but my astra shoots just as nice. and i were going to spend the money i'd go h&k, in fact i am. lol. cody

The BW's Sig P232-380 works like a top. She has run several hundred rounds through it and never had any issues...[:)]
