Ruger blackhawk changes
What is the difference between the new Ruger Blackhawks and the 3-screw models?

BASIC CHANGE WAS THE ADDITION OF THE HAMMER BLOCK ALSO THE NEW MODEL HAS TWO PINS IN THE FRAME RATHER THAN THE THREE SCREWS. BOTH GREAT GUNS.
I WOULD RATHER BE DUCK HUNTING.0 -
The new model has a transfer bar, not a hammer block. The entire internal lockwork system is different. The old models operate exactly like the old Colt SAA revolvers. The new models on the otherhand can be carried safely with 6 rounds in the cylinder. To rotate the cylinder for loading/etc you open the loading gate as opposed to simply bringing the hammer to half cock as on the old models. Triggers are a little better on the old models and the grip frame is slighly different in its dimensions. The only exception to the above is the new model Ruger Bearcat which has a transfer bar, but operates in the same manner as the old models. 0
