My fiance just bought a Springfield 1911 in 9mm here on GunBroker. We haven't picked it up yet, but all of the Springfield 1911s look solid. Obviously Kimber is the pinnacle of the 1911 market right now, but most everybody I've talked to has said that Springfield is giving them a run for their money. She got her Springfiled for $600, but I think I've seen auctions for the standard .45 1911 for less.

    Happy Shooting!

get a springfield mil-spec. You can get them in the $400 range, and you won't be disappointed.

I had a springfield and it was a good shooter but not real accurate..I have heard lots of good things about the dan wesson and alot of people have said that the charles daily guns are really nice ...lots of extras at a pretty low price..I own a wilson protector now and it is the finest shooting pistol i have ever laid hands on but it is not in your posted price range..I paid 1795 for mine.no matter what you get I would reccomend www.wilsoncombat.com for any aftermarket gadgets you choose

Buy the springfield basic model, then go to a gunshow, purchase a nice stainless steel match grade barrel and bushing and you will have a good shooter with good-very good accuracy.
