What Is It???
here are three pictures of a gun a friend has. He said its called a "lemon squeezer". As you grip the handle and prepare to pull the trigger, you must squeeze and depress the lever on the back of the grip in order for it to fire. We can't even tell what shells it takes, .22 and 32 just fall right through, but .380 won't fit. It says 32 on the side of the barrell.
Would it be civil war, WWI era, or what? any help would be appreciated. TIA... david

Dad picked up a Mauser at the gunshow the other day.
I'd like to know if anyone can tell me year of mfg, collectability, or anything for that matter about it.
It's marked "FN Herstal" serial number is "07X" no pre, or suffix.
It has a 16" barrel, what looks like it might be a military stock with shortened handguards. It has a stripperclip guide, and the notch in the reciever on the left side. No military markings.
Import mark by the muzzle "St albins VT"
Looks unfired. Calbier is 308, and it has the mag block in the magazine.
Wood is about 80%, all metal is excellent, about 95%.
There's another marking on the reciever, and one next to the import mark on the barrel, but I cant remember what they say.

Value wise I can't help you because there is virtually no collector interest here in the US.
Miroku has been in the firearms mfg. business since 1893 and mostly has built guns to other mfg. specs. Currently they mfg. long guns for Winchester and Browning as well as distributing their own lines/brand in Europe.
Miroku mfg. revolvers until about 1964 and those imported into the US were branded as the "Liberty Chief".
I have never seen one of their handguns "in person", but from what little I've managed to pickup here and there they are pretty well made.
Depending on the condition of the one you discovered you might get a couple hundred for it, but that is strictly a wild guess based on the assumption that the piece is in top condition.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Maybe another member will have some first hand experience with them.

These were not bad little guns and were pretty much just Colt knock-offs. I believe the Liberty Chief was a six shot and there was a smaller five shot pistol called the Police Model. I don't recall the prices but these Japanese pistols were not nearly as inexpensive as one would have expected when they were imported and back in their day the market was still crowded with American made Iver Johnsons and H&R's and lots of cheap imported European revolvers like RGs. Sales of the Japanese product were not very large. I suppose if you had an example which was new in the factory box with all of the papers there might be some interest from a collector standpoint, but as already mentioned these pistols attract very little attention today.

Thank you. It is in very good condition, looks like its been fired a few times. I do not have the box or papers. I think i will clean it up and just hang on to it. Remove the grips and see if there's any Japanese print on the inside of the grip. I cant translate Japanese, but there were about 20 guns made specific for Japanese Generals back around, well before the war. I dont know what the text reads but those that were made for them have the Jap text. Those might be worth something. 0 -
There is a short text on Miroku in the Blue Book just describing who they made shotguns for, currently Browning and Winchester, and it also mentions a line of handguns called 'Liberty Chief'. Nothing on makes, models, prices, etc. except they were made until 1964. Not much interest in them. 0 -
