Value of Sako Forester in .243

Can anyone tell me the value of a Sako Forester in .243? It has a heavy barrel, wide (flat) forearm under the barrel, no iron sights, and a bipod. I'd consider it to be in very good condition. I have checked the auctions, but haven't found one exactly like mine.

    Welcome aboard! I will need more info to give you a more precise answere by the books. Do you know if this is a pre '72 production rifle? Is the wood stock up to the muzzle (mannlicher style)? Is there a number sigifying the action type (L-46, L-461, L-57 etc...)? Does it have a detachable magazine? These are really nice and well respected rifles running into the $1000 plus range often times so these factors must be sorted out. Post back and I'll give you a value according to the Blue Book of Gun Values; more of a wholesale guide but at least a starting point.

    Not sure on the date of manufacture - is there a way to tell? It says L579 on the side. The stock doesn't go to the end of the barrel. Magazine is not detachable.. If it'd help, I can try to post a pic.

    A picture would definately help! From what I can ascertain thus far your gun is a post '72 production which makes it less desireable (subtract about %25). Bring a Forester it is a medium action length. It is in a fairly popular caliber so that is neither good nor bad. A WAG at this point would be about $700. I'll look to see if your pictures show up!
