Norinco ammo
Is the Norinco 7.62x39 good ammo? It says it is non corrosive, and is packaged in a yellow box 20 rounds to the box.

i have 40 rounds of norinco 7.62 that a buddy of mine gave me. i'm going down to the range tomorrow to blow off a couple thousand rounds, i'll let you know how it functions in the mac 90. it looks like wolf, but a bit better to me. i'll post tomorrow and let you know. cody

I have fired a bunch of the Norinco ammo. Never had any problems.

Great cheap ammo. Especially for the high capacity magazines. Word of warning most of the Norinco ammo is steel jacketed, and will ricochet like nothing you've ever seen. Check your back stop, I've seen and heard the stuff deflect off and up some steep inclines. Never leave a round chambered in a hot action. As cheap as it is the tendency is to run a lot of rounds, and then walk away from the rifle. Some real horror stories about guys having a round go off while walking over to check their targets.
With that said, I have cases of the stuff, and shoot it all of the time. Great in an SKS.0 -
I've had good luck with Norinco ammo in various calibers. Their 9mm Makarov is good and REALLY stout! I've shot the ammo you are specifically referring to and had 0 problems. One word of warning...the Chinese seem to have a different idea on the whole "non-corrosive" thing. It's not horrible but since most of their arms in this chambering are chrome lined, I would clean my weapon fairly quickly after firing!

I have remains of a 1200 round case of Norinco 7.62X39 that I bought in 1995?. It has worked fine and is about gone now.

Bought some at a gun show the guy selling said they were AP.
Likely steel jacketed.

I've sold Norinco rifle and pistol ammo since the mid 1980's. The local Police Dept. bought 20,000 plus rounds of 9mm for their MP5's over the years. It worked better than any of the Remington-UMC, Winchester-USA, etc. that they could find (that stuff wasn't powerful enough to cycle their older MP5's). I've sold over 100,000 of the .223 and 7.62X39. Many have found the more recent Russian stuff to be "down-loaded" from the original spec. loads. Norinco stuff was reasonable in its day. Now the Russian stuff is available and people don't even think about the Norinco anymore. The Russian ammo is so cheap, many just buy it because of its price. Not too many say it is the "best", just the cheapest. I never had the problems with Norinco ammo, that many have commented about the Russian ammo of today.
All in all, I would consider the Norinco ammo right up there with about anything out there, for the money.0 -
well, fired off all of it today. flawless. got some more and bump fired a couple 40 round mags. i have a sore hip and a huge smile. i would definately buy more. i shot some wolf today, first round the primer blew up and burned my face! guess who was pissed off. if you said me, you were right! but the norinco shot great. cody

Like I said, the Russian stuff is "Cheap", but then again its "cheap". Sometimes price shouldn't be the only factory for buying something. Norinco stuff was the "Cheap" stuff of its day, but it was just "reasonably priced" rather than "cheap" now that I have something else to compare it to. 0 -
