Superposed O/U Rifle-INFO PLEASE
In the 70'ies I saw two, did not handle. Calibers were .270 & .30-06.
I have never seen or heard of any since. were the actions the same as Superposed O/U shotguns? Did a gunsmith in Belgan other than Browning fit the barrels? If so who? Would a 20 gage Superpose take the presure of a 22-250 or 22 Swift? Where could a monoblock be fitted, and barrels. Regards

I'm a little confused by tour post but here goes! These are of course much more popular in Europe than the U.S. but there are here in fairly good numbers. If you are looking for one I believe Izmash is currently making one in several calibers as well as rifle/shotgun combo guns. There are the only affordable ones "I am aware of as most of the rest are quite pricey. Many European manufacturers make frames with interchangeable O/U rifle and shotgun barrel sets. The Browning guns would doubtless be quite expensive (went for around $3000 in the late 70's) and I'm not that sure there was a difference between the Express rifle and the Continental interchangeable barrel version in the monobloc area; one might assume they were the same but I would want to hear from one of the smiths on this site to be sure of that. The Continental set came in several rifle caliber barrel sets from 270 to 9.3 x 74R and the shotgun barrels were, I believe, available in 20 ga. only. If the guns handled the 270 and 30-06 one would assume that the 22-250 and 220 Swift would be no problem, but again, I would defer to a more experienced responder on this one! I cannot comment on the wisdom of converting a 20 gauge superposed to 220 Swift over under with the intricacies of barrel harmonics/convergence etc... but hope someone here can! Good luck with what sounds like a tough smithing job and perhaps think about recommending the cheaper Russian gun?

i think i know what you are refering to. it came out in the 70's and maybe the early 80's. its the winchester 101 12ga combo gun. you could have a 12 ga o&u and a 30-06 over 12 bbl, or order it with the combo bbl only. they are still found on the market and command a fair price, but nothing out of reach. the cal.'s were american cal's because the gun was marketed in the usa for winchester. they didnt sell a lot, but they are still fine guns to have.

There has been many makers of over/under rifles. some such as VALMET have many sets of barrels 2 rifle, 1 rifle & 1 shotgun, and 2 shotgun that fit on same action Browning made sets with 2 sets of barrel one double shotgun one double rifle . Winchester made combo in both us and metric rifle with top shotgun . beretta did the same as Browning. plus many makers built custom guns Karl 0 -

Ferlach, Austria comes to mind. They were sold by Stoeger . There was also a Hege, imported by Benet Arms. 0 -
To examine the universe of combination guns and double guns -- cartridge firing, that is -- I recommend obtaining a Frankonia-Jagd catalog. This German company (HQ in W?rzburg, Bavaria) is the equivalent of what Abercrombie and Fitch was in the 1950s.
If you are serious about a combo or double rifle, and you intend to do your best to wear it out, I strongly recommend the Brno ZH300 series. The gun uses 100 percent interchangeable parts, including sets of barrels, interchangeable set trigger assembly, integral scope mounts, twenty-seven (might be more now) sets of barrels available. And the gun disassembles by knocking out a couple of pins -- like a military rifle or Remington 870.
ZH300's have a distinctive profile that I find delightfully quirky. It has fewer parts than any other over/under gun. It may be the most durably built over/under. When Czechoslovakia was a communist country, all parts were machined from bar stock. I don't know how much manufacture has been "modernized."
Getting one might be a problem. I do not know who is the importer. I do have an excellent isometric drawing-parts list for those who want to see what ZH300s look like under the hood.
Before I owned my ZHs, I had a Belgian Browning Superposed and a J.P. Sauer M3000 Drilling .30-06/12/12. I prefer the ZH by far.0 -

In 1978 Brown introduced the Centennial O/U, Rifle/shotgun combo set.
It was a 20ga Superposed receiver with a 26in 20barrel and a 24in 30.06 barrel. 500 were manufactured in 1978 only. The list was $7000.00. I have not heard of a .270 barrel but would not be suprised if they exist. Collecting interest doesn't seem real strong. I could be wrong but my guess is they sell for less then the Initial $7000 list.

As I recall the old Ferlach, Franconia and other special order overunders were full of problems. The BRNO sounds great especially with the set triggers but I haven't seen one. 0 -
Thanks for the Info, It is the Browning Superposed I was asking about. I found a 101 Winchester in.257 Roberts, lost the link on Line.
I have tryed many MFG. in Italy and Spain, some say soon on US calibers. I found none intrested in building Barrel set, or Block, these were parts & barrel MFG. The Chez. O&U sounds intresting. As to the IZH94 .223, I have not found any first hand knowlage.( Is 1x12 twist ok for 22-250, I would think 1x10 inch) Should have bought the Merkel back when. I did recive an e-mail from a US gun smith, booked for the year. Keeep those cards&[;)] letters comeing in.0
