Old Weaver V9 question

Recently picked up a Savage 340 in 222 Rem that came with a Weaver V9 and Weaver mount. The Weaver mount was incomplete and I wanted to put on one of the Savage factory mounts I have around anyway. After trying unsuccesfully to zero the Weaver (at its full adjustment it hits 3 feet low and 2 feet right at 100yds.) I mounted an old Vintage 4x Lyman I had around and it seems to perform very well producing groups a little over an inch at 100yds. Sorry, I'm digressing! Three questions. One: Is the Weaver worth having fixed/refurbed? Cosmetically it looks good and the optics are clear with fine crosshairs. Two: Am I perhaps missing something in my adjustments with the turrets and 50 ft. to 1000yds. objective adjustments? I am not used to these type scopes and wonder if I've spun the objective bell beyond its' normal adjustment range thus screwing up the POI. Three: If refurbing is an option, can someone tell me the address to send it too and an approximate cost? I want to keep the gun scoped vintage (as are my other 3 340's). Sorry for the long winded questions and thanks for any help you guys can provide!

    Use the link below to contact the folks at Weaver for repair information and cost. They will estimate the repair fee after they have a chance to look it over. They can't read minds so they have to actually see the scope. It's hard to say what could be wrong with it.

    I like the older Weavers personally and I have several of the older steel body scopes that I use for hunting and varmint rifles. The fine cross hair/dot reticle is terrific for prairie dogs and I like the post reticle for hunting when used in a scope with lower power. The only one that I don't like as much is the older variable that is adjusted (magnification) by a small knob on the side with the windage adjust knob. The powder range is 2-3/4x to 5x. It's just harder to use in the field.

    Weaver is very good about backing thier products, but what I have found when sending a scope back to them is that they don't fix yours. They just send you what ever is the curren production item that is most comparable to what you sent in. I sent in a 1-4 x 20 and got a completely different 1-4x20 back. Polished blue as compared to matte finish, which I had requested. Be aware of this if what you really want is to put the "old girl" back in use.
