new 1903A1
Good morning
I just purchased my first SA 1903A1. Most of my research on my rifle is too general. Is there a reference source on the internet to help me identify cartouches, dates and correct parts and finish for this rifle? Thanks.

First let me welcome you to GB. YOur best chance is to go to google.com and do a search. Some one here may have a specific site for you but I belive Google is your best choice. My 2 cents [8D]

The only useful online site is the Springfield Research Service; if they have information on your rifle, they will (for a fee) send you a letter.
The definitive reference source is Springfield 1903 Rifles by Lt Col William S. Brophy. Other reference books on the subject are sold at www.scott-duff.com & www.gunshowbooks.com.
You may also find collectors with a similar interest on the M1903/A3/A4 forum at www.jouster.com.

rkh, welcome to the site. If you would list all the letters, numbers, and stamps and their location along with the serial number of the rifle, there are several people on this site that can tell you about production dates and most of your questions you require. Many have the good colonel's book. Would suggest that if you intend to become an expert on the subject, you might obtain a copy. Brownell's for one has it, and I'm sure many others. 0 -
Thanks All
