AK-47 Muzzle Brake?
I want to put a Muzzle Brake on one of my AK-47's.
What is the best way to do this?
Are the Pin on type Secure?
If I have it welded on what do I do about the weld mark as far as not rusting, paint?

Since you specifically asked for the BEST way then the perfered method is to have the barrel threaded and then the muzzel brake attached using high temperature silver solder. The BATFE considers this method permenant and the muzzel would not be considered threaded since the brake could not be removed (at least not without a major struggle).

Not everybody knows that the small slanted muzzle brake tip of their standard AKM or Type 56S can, on a mil-spec example at least, be loosened, unscrewed, and replaced with another type of threaded brake (being careful not to scratch the finish).
I'm not sure if you're saying you need a permanent brake or if you'd just like to try a replaceable one, but there are about 5 or 6 types to choose from now that fit the threaded AK barrel, including the AK-74 type (said by some to be the "best designed brake ever"), the 74SU type (the opposite of best, this brake is said to have the odd trait of increasing blast), the AMD type, and others. Actually, the original one works pretty darn well and is certainly the shortest of the bunch, if compactness is an issue. But if you need more barrel length to qualify a gun, then you'll want a permanent fixture, not a pin-on.
As for the pin-ons themselves, I would check mine after every range session. Some of these are aftermarket parts of indeterminate quality, both in the design and in the strength of the steel used for the part and the pins that hold them in place. Then too, you have inevitable scratching of the finish everywhere the part contacts the barrel.

I have a MAC 90 I put a muzzle brake on by just taping with a brass hammer NO pin Will this come off when I shoot the rifle? Thanks Shooter1 0 -

Would it be legal to put a slant type Muzzle Brake on my Mac 90 And would I have to have it welded on? Thanks. 0 -
Shooter 1- That friction fit muzzle brake will fly off and disappear.

I bought a muzzle break a guy is machining for M91's and selling on fleabay.
Talk about dangerous. Came off the end of the gun in pieces. Be cautious of whom you get them from. That's been my second attempt at getting a muzzle break for the 91's.0
