Value of altered Winchester M92
Value of a custom gun is subjective and exists in the eye of the beholder while unaltered gun values can be readily found in catalogs.
Fine work in a custom gun will always find an appreciative buyer. As an example, custom military Mausers, while losing their military collectible status are valued by shooters depending on enhancements and quality of the work.
Bert, I took umbrage at your unnecessary put down of Prarie Dogs' treasure. You really can't diminish with words the value of a fine shooting gun.
Additionally, by your statement you were obviously clueless about which caliber was the original or you would have eliminated the larger calibers.

v35... Well, I will say this much for you, you have your opinions (which you obviously think highly of), and I have mine. You how ever, most obviously do not appreciate someone questioning or pointing out when you have made a mistake. You also by definition, were "clueless" about which cartridge that rifle was originally chambered in. I pointed out the two most likely choices in my first reply to you, and then it took you three posts to acknowledge that you made a mistake. You sir are obviously just as clueless as I.
As for my reputed put down, I fail to see it that way - quote

As a long time Winchester collector, I clearly stated my learned experience concerning the collectability of a highly modified Winchester lever action. I also clearly stated that it was my "opinion" that the price paid was double the realistic value. The fact is, very very few people will pay $800 for a lever-action varmit rifle chambered in an obselete cartridge, and I pointed that fact out in a polite fashion. The fellow who posted the original question did not take "umbrage" to what I stated... why did you[?]
