It doesn't. Period. Possession/purchase of ammo in Canada requires a federally issued Possession and Acquisition License (PAL). Firearm vendors require different permits AFAIK. Excellent chance that the ammo will be confiscated at the border if declared as such - and if not, well, you can be pretty sure that Customs & Revenue Canada will be talking with U.S. Customs about where the package originated from and who sent it.

Yup, all the draft dodgers up there have a different opinion on freedom, your right to self defense and the tools of that trade they dont like much. No-stick is right.

Holding onto a clip of ammo AND a US citizenship is OK (but is on a case-by-case basis). A clip of ammo and CANADIAN citizenship, however, lands the holder of said clip a trip in front of the local magistrate (not to mention the loss of said clip/ammo).

The original question dealt with SHIPPING ammo INTO Canada, and by WHAT method, which is clearly against the law up here in Kanada.

I may not like it, but since I live in this wonderful socialist state (inflect last four words to reflect my sarcasm) I have to deal with it.

One other thing - if someone is waving money in front of your face to ship ammo into Canada, there is a high probability that it is someone who intends it for criminal use. Most of the criminals do not possess PALs, and have to get their ammo from somewhere (pre-PAL purchased ammo has almost dried up for them).

I'm not so sure "clip" and handgun are meant to be used in the same sentence. Where I come from it's called a magazine......no subscription needed!
