valmet 62/S current price
i have quite a few preban items on auction....but i cant find the current going price for a valmet 62/s in 7.62x39...its the type with the milled reciever ...100% new unfired fixed wood stock ....i know its on the rare side ...cant find one anywhere to get an idea on what the market value is...any ideas???

Put it on the auction, with high quality pictures and a high reserve. You'll find out quick enough.

These Model 62's show up from time to time and NIB tend to carry prices of around $2,000+. It is internesting that when this particular model was first imported decades ago (when I purchased my own 62) they were VERY SLOW sellers and quite unpopular due to their chambering in 7.62X39mm, which back in the the old days was available in this country loaded only by Norma at about a buck a shot! The Model 62 uses standard AK/AKM magazines which were also once very hard to locate in the United States and sold for very high prices (not the $7 you see today). Interarms, the importer, was not very well stocked with parts and accessories for the Model 62 and this situation did not improve until the introduction of the later Model 76 which was chambered for the NATO 5.56mm and 7.62mm rounds. I have never seen a Model 62 "sporter" fitted with a wood stock so your rifle is rather unusual and should bring s nice premium, especially if you still have the box and paperwork.
