springfield mil-spec 1911
anybody actually shot one? I handled it at the store, but wanted some opinions from anybody that has some experience with them. Ive been looking for just a straight govt model 1911 for awhile, and they arent a lot of $$.

I got the Mil-Spec WWII model and I love it, I have only had one jam and a couple of times the slide wouldn't fully "slam" forward(fixed with a higher power recoil spring). I got a full length guide rod with #18 spring, CM trigger and sear.
BTW the one jam I expienced happened while I was using those $7 mags, my Wilson mag has never gave me probs.

I picked up a SA 1911A1 around thanksgiving. Actually I was just looking around at the range, getting ready to go back home. I noted that the bbl had the 'flared or bell' end that I had only seen on a 'match bbl w/ hand fit bushing' from an aftermarket purchase. Nothing else seemed much different except nice sights and a trigger that broke very crisply for a new piece. I fell off the wagon and dumped $ 450 on the counter after taxes. Best out of box 45 I have ever used. One of the range-masters said they had bought 2, and he took one.
Is SA putting a few tuned features in the box these days ? After about 1000 rounds I can't find a thing I would change.
If we do not hang together,
We will most certainly hang separately.0 -
