are full metal jacket bullets accuracy the same?

i am going to get fmj bullets to reload for a 223, is the accuracy the same from the different companies?

    Of course not, accuracy is a variable as is manufacturing tolerances and methods.

    I'm a pretty basic beginner, but I say shoot a whole lot and make up your own mind.

    I shoot FMJ 99% out of my 45's.
    A local ex-Marine loads only FMJ. Habit? Or wisdom ...

    My 32ACP is Fiocchi SJHP, and I can ring a bell at 75'+.
    (Others will attest to the accuracy of the Tomcat.

    So grab a few boxes of what others suggest (buy on-line) and "give it a shot".

    a guns harmonic balance is different from ea. other even among the same model of guns. so what you need to do is shoot ea. mfg. of bullet from a dead rest and find the bullet your gun likes the best, then stick with that. Ed

    it's not the type of gun you have in the heat of a battle that counts, only if you have enough ammo for it, lets face it, a gun without ammo is only as good as a base ball bat!!

    This is kind of a sad statement and quite a generalization but the more money you spend on them the better they likely are! I like Sierra bullets but have a hard time affording them! Having said this, I can occasionally get almost the exact same accuracy from military surplus pulls as I can from the expensive Sierra pills! As mentioned earlier, buy a variety of different bullets and see what your RIFLE likes best...no point in paying for a premium bullet if your rifle like econo pills just as well!!!!

    FMJ's are only good for target [;)] not hunting.

    Are you speaking of pulled military bullets or commercial FMJ bullets? It makes a difference. Military ball bullets are not made with tack driving accuracy in mind. Mind you, the bullet is only part of the load. You can load military ball rounds that will give you good accuracy, but match grade bullets they ain't.
    Commercial FMJ bullets are no different than any other bullet. You must develope a load for them for your rifle.

    i'll be shooting to 200-250 yards or so. i usually experiment with factory loads to see what shoots best in my rifles then do the same handloading. i just picked up 100 hornady 55 grain fmj's and will start to reload from there. thanks for they replys guys.

    FYI If your considering shooting at gun ranges often, most do not allow FMJ on the rifle range. FYD

    A lot is going to depend on the twist rate of your barrel and bullet weight. A 55 gr bullet will do the best in a 1 in 9" to a 1 in 12" twist barrel.
