    I have a Colt Anaconda S.S. 6" barrel that i am thinking of selling. It's in good shape and has a Bushnel 2x scope on it. Can anyone tell me what it would be worth?

    I bought one a Mo. ago with a 4" barrel Paid $500.00. dont know when it was made. It fit's my hand great and shoot's great But don't know if I trust it or not. dont like the way the Cylinder rotates, They dont have a very good reputation. and I can see why Colt stoped making them. Good luck with your's

    What don't you like about the cylinder rotation? And what have you heard bad about them? I have never heard anything bad about an anaconda.

    Hi blue! The 5in barrel is going to make it rare, that's for sure. Maybe it was a limited edition for one of the distributors like Lew Horton? Does it have any special markings? Is it 44mag?
    I doubt if it will bring much of a premium over the 4in barrel, though. In the $650 (realistic) neighborhood. It will likely bring a larger premium the longer you hold on to it, of course. Sounds like a cool revolver.

    Hi Chuck! I've never heard anything bad about the Anacondas either. What did you find was the problem with yours?

    I don't know who told you that Anacondas were trouble. I would put my 6" ported against any Smith, Ruger or Taurus. ( Smith, Ruger and Taurus are good guns though).

    My book shows about $700 in 100% for a "6 blued 44 mag. The rarity of the "5 barrel, which my book does not show would have to add between $150 and $200 if it can be verified by Colt's, which it sounds like you did! Chuck: What did you not like about the cylinder rotation? Does it lurch forward going to lock-up or something? I'm confused?!?! I'm a Smith guy personnaly but have heard generally good things about the Anaconda and I believe they are making thw=em again as of 2002!

    I like my Anaconda as much as my Smith 629's. It is a tad more accurate and cylinder rotation is a non-factor. As far as I know, Colt still makes the Anaconda.

    Without the NRA, the second ammendment would already be gone!

    Hi Guy's, dont know ifn I can explain the cly thing but will try. On MOST revolvers the hand that moves the cly comes straight up and down. on the Colt Anaconda, It looks like it comes up and then get's kicked back and to the left. And mine does not like lead, think it was desined fer Jacked bullets, I am going to have the forcing cone opened up for Lead, I reload and Cast my own Bullets, I may be wrong but I think lead penatrates better than them Jacked bullets. I live in the Mt. and we have a Lot of Cats and Bears.

    Generally a well designed jacketed bullet with penetration in mind will give you the best penetration, as expansion is slower and more controlled....on a pure lead bullet, you cant control expansion nearly as well, so it could flatten more than you want and not penetrate as far....
