Ithaca 87 vs 37; Do barrels interchange?

I have a chance to buy an Ithaca Deerslayer barrel which is marked Ithaca Model 87. Will this fit my Model 37. My 37 is the newer model without the serialized barrel. I'm sure this has been asked before on this forum, but I can't get the "search" function to work. Thanks for your help.

  I would go to the Shotgun World forum, they have one of there boards that is specifically for Ithaca's, hopefully someone on it can answer your question.

  Since the Model 87 was introduced relatively recently, (circa late 80's) when Ithaca's production resumed after bankruptcy. It seems to me it would depend on what vintage Model 37 you have, the bankruptcy being the dividing line.
