Scope mounting problem

I am mounting a 8X32 Burris on a 6BR bullberry barrel. It has a leupold base epoxied and screwed to the barrel. I am using double dovetail Burris Signature rings using number ZERO inserts.

My Problem;
The scope front objective adjusting knurling is just barely kissing the barrel it turns fine and leaves no mark on the knurling. It just barely grazes the very tip of the knurling. This is a 19.5" barrel and very heavy 1" diameter with no taper.

Is it OK to leave it alone or should I put some electrical tape under the lower inserts to raise the scope a few thousandths. I really don't want to go to higher rings. Everything is exactly as I want it now.

    Bought a customized Ruger 10/22...Has weaver bases and rings...tried to mount a Burris scope---then a Redfield scope and both scopes did not have enough windage adjustment to work--continues to shoot to the left....Fellow had a Leupold scope on it previously and he says it worked fine.......Any ideas or suggestions...can I shim inside the scope rings to fix the problem......thanks......rpb

    What you need is a scope base with windage adjustments, Leupold, Redfield, Burris all make them you can get them from Cabela's or other sources.

    Junk the pot metal rings and bases and get some real ones first and foremost. Warne makes a super setup for the .22. Will attach straight on the dovetail. Windage adjustable mounts are a no no in my book. They always seem to loosen up at the most inoppertune time. Try a quality made set of rings that attach to the dovetail on the receiver first. Chances are the drilled holes are out of alignment. If you dont want to use the warnes, I believe burris makes their signature rings that are direct attach for a 3/8 dovetail. As a last resort use a windage adjustable set of rings or a ring base combo. But I bet either of your scopes will zero just fine once you get away from the drilled holes and go straight to the dovetail.

    Millet makes windage adjustable rings that attach directly to the receiver grooves as suggested by Savage12. Burris Signature rings have polymer inserts that can be replaced with various degrees of offset for adjustments if you put them directly on the receiver or they also make windage adjustable bases for conventional rings and the signature adjustable insert rings can be used on them also. -- You have plenty of options............[8D]

    savage12 , Ruger 10-22 does not have dovetails in the receiver , you have to mount some kind of base to the receiver,

    Just as a note I've got several hunting rifles with the windage adjustable mounts, (Leupold& Redfield)and hunt my rifles hard, thousands of miles in trucks, horseback and rough country and never one loosening problem, maybe I'm just lucky but I swear by them.

    TO BAD THE LEUPOLD SCOPE DIDN'T COME WITH THE RIFLE ,. ARE YOU USING THE SAME RINGS AND BASE USED WITH THE LEUPOLD? DID YOU CHANGE MOUNTS WHEN YOU REPLACED THE LEUPOLD[ NOT TIP OFFS ]? I WOULD SUSPECT THE MOUNTS WERE NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY . WEAVER MOUNTS AND RINGS , ALTHOUGH MOSTLY ALUMINUM WILL SERVE YOU WELL ON A 22 LR. . HAS THE BARREL BEEN CHANGED OR REMOVED ? IT MAY NOT BE SEATED PROPERLY .
