Old Winchester Lever Action
I got hold of this old Winchester Not for sure what it is It has Winchester Repeating Arms New Haven NY Kings Improvement March 29 1884 Octobor 16 1980 On top of the barrell So any body have a idea what it is and worth anything or not No other markings its a 22 cal. Missing lots of parts will try to attach a photo has a tube fed. Measures 42 1/2" long Barrel is 23 1/2" Hammer wont cock Has tooth marks on barrell looks like some one tryed to remove it. Both side covers on reciever is missing looks like it was suppose to have a metal or brass butt plate.So does any one have a idea what it is or worth???[img][/img][img][/img]Sorry cant get a picture to load

What you have is a Third Model 1873 Rifle, and the patent dates should actually read "-KING'S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29. 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860-"
The Model 1873 has the distinction of being the very first repeating 22 caliber rifle ever made, but it never became very popular (due to its higher cost, it could not compete with the later introduced Model 1890 slide-action). Approximately 19,550 were made in 22 Short or 22 Long (the barrel is marked for the specific cartridge right next to the frame). Unfortunately, the rifle you have will have no real value beyond the sum of the salvageable parts (maybe $300 - $400).
