REM MODEL 12 SLIDE .22 RIFLE / ODD PROOFMARK
i have been cleaning up a nice REMINGTON MODEL 12 SLIDE ACTION RIFLE in .22 rimfire. SER#781590 / takedown model. its a standard, basic, clean gun...
in 2 places on the gun is an "ANCHOR" proofmark. a stylized representation of a navel vessal anchor. one is on the trigger gaurd (left hand side, forward) / the other is on the slide mechanism (bottom, under forend).
is this normal??? i am unfamiliar with this proof on commercial american arms. whats the deal??? best regards, mike.
What other dungeon is so dark as ones own heart, what jailer so inexorable as ones own mind.

Mike,
Although I do not know what it stands for I have seen the Anchor
stamped on Remington Model 51 pistol. Would be intersting to know
the reason. I do know the Pistol was not martially marked.0 -
My Remington Model 12 does not have these marks SN 3939##

i would expect that a TRAINER would be marked US PROPERTY / PROPERTY OF US... this gun is not marked in that fashion.
someone must know what the ANCHOR PROOF denotes / indicates...
i am stumped. best regards, mike.
