When did remington stop putting the white diamond on the bottom of the stock? Can you tell how old a 1100 is by the letters on the barrel using the word blackpowder?
    Thanks

    1. strip & clean. 2. check the gas seal & piston set, install properly. 3. take it to your local gunsmith.

What kind of shells are you using?

If it cycles perfectly through the magazine then do as Mike Wiskey stated, if not, then still try it, but I'd say it's likely to need to go to the 'smith anyway (but it never hurts to try to clean it). If it doesn't work by hand, I'd say it could be the ejector/extractor needs cleaned and/or replaced and also it could be the magazine spring/plunger needs cleaned and/or replaced.
    Good luck.

The two most common problems with 1100's doing this are useing 2 3/4" shells in a 3" barrel and plugged up gas ports. There are two ports inside the ring that goes over the mag. tube. One port on the 3" chambered barrels. Solvent alone won't clean it, use a small piece of wire to pick it clean, then use a pipe cleaner soaked in hoppes. Then replace the O-ring. You don't have an ejection problem, you have a cycleing problem. If the ports are plugged, you need to drop the trigger group and give it and the inside of the reciever a good cleaning and flushing out.Hope this helps. Let us know if this takes care of the problem.

IF IT'S EXTRACTING WHEN CYCLED BY HAND YOUR EXTRACTERS PROBLABLY GOOD BUT A SPENT CASE IS A LITTLE HARDER TO EXTRACT . CHECK FOR GOOD SPRING TENSION ON EXT. AND CHECK WEAR , IT SHOULD HAVE A GOOD SHARP POINT TO GRAB THE RIM OF THE HULL . MORE COMMONLY CAUSE IS THE SEAL [O-RING]REPLACE YOUR O-RING AND GET A SPARE YOU'LL NEED IT SOMEDAY
[ $5 AT THE MOST ]. THEY SHOULD BE CHANGED PERIODICLY . IT MAY BE DRIED , CRACKED , STRECTHED OR BROKEN .THE MAG TUBE MUST BE FREE OF RUST, FOULING, OR GREASE. IF YOUR MAG TUBE HAS RUSTED USE SOME BREAK FREE AND EITHER FINE EMERY PAPER, 0000 STEEL WOOL OR BOTH TO REMOVE IT. LIGHTLY OIL YOUR TUBE,PISTON, AND SEAL . THE GAS PORTS ARE HARD
TO CLOG UP , BUT IT DOES HAPPEN SO KEEP'EM CLEAN .BTW THE EXTRACTOR IS EASILY REPLACED IF IT IS YOUR PROBLEM .

I'm with Trap55 on this one. I'm guessing your shooting 2 3/4" field loads in a Maganum model 1100. It'll only function with express loaded 2 3/4" or 3" mag. shells. But you can pick up another barrel for this weapon, that is for the regular 1100 and it'll work fine. Been there, done that! Good Luck! ...Mark

If you do have a 3" mag, and that is your cycling problem, it can be easily taken care of by drilling another gas port hole just under the existing one on your barrel. Try that before you purchase another barrel. If you are leery about doing that, any good 100 gunsmith can do it for you for a nominal fee.
    Good luck!

BigBarn, Have you done that to one? Bad idea, waste of a good barrel, and sometime down the line someone will shoot 3" shells in it and hammer the action into worthless junk. Cheaper and safer to just buy another barrel. Then you have two. Thats a good thing.

Its either a port problem or that light loads such as game loads will not function properly in these either.

God gave us all a gift. Have you found yours yet ?
