All metal to metal contact should be lubricated. Try something like Rem-Oil or Breakfree. They should also be kept clean. Firearms are designed to be operated firmly!!.

    Love them Pre-64's!!!!-Bob

Not very familiar with the model,but...
could it be the last little bit that the cocking action takes place?
On a lever gun with a hammer it's the first inch or so thats hard so I'm thinking that on a hammerless it's the last bit of lever travle that cocks the weapon.

Throckmortons' the alias, cas is the game.

I just got this gun and i just took it apart and cleaned it...it operates very smootly until the last of the pulling back stage...i used dry oil to oil the gun all up... i also heard that the round edge of the rear links should be faced outward...they both look square to me and two other people when i shown them to them so i don't think it makes a difference as long as they are on correctly if you switch them between sides because they are exactly alike...I have heard that if they are reversed a bad action bind would occur...if this would occur i wouldn't be able to open the chamber right?...when it gets hard to pull at the end you can push it the rest of the way with little effort with your finger by pushing on the bolt...
