Factory or Local Gunsmith
I have a 1962 Colt Python that has lite primer strikes about one in every six resulting in a failure to fire. Should I send it to Colt's factory shop, or is this the sort of job any local gunsmith could do?
Opinions please.

Should be a very routine job for your local gunsmith.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
It would be nice if the local gunsmith was Colt certified. My 2 cents [8D]

I have a Python that was tuned at the Colt Custom Shop. I know it sounds like overkill, but talk about a light crisp trigger! SWEET! 0 -
Cheapest way would to get a few different & slightly heavier hammer springs from Wolff and if you're not happy, spend the freight and send it to Colt. 0 -
The problem is.....if you ship to Colt, off the bat you will be spending $40-50 each way for shipping. You must ship it via UPS/FEDEX Next Day Air; check the rate calculators on their web sites.

Send it to me and I will take care of it. Don[:D]
