You might want to post your comments on the M1 Carbine forum at the Culver Shooting Page (www.jouster.com); maybe someone over there has had a similar problem.

Sadly, you may have to pay a local gunsmith to fix it. Consider it a learning experience; most of us have gone through something like this.

I have an IAI carbine I bought a couple years ago. Right out of the box it had ejection problems.
Upon inspecting it I found it had a bad extractor in it. I bought and installed a new one and now it works fine.

If you can explain the problem you are having, maybe we can help with some suggestions.

The carbine most probably was manufactured by Israel Arms Inc. (IAI) out of Liberty Texas. I tried to find a physical address, but could not.
Look into Israel Arms Inc. through the Texas Chamber of Commerce, and I'm sure you will find a physical address in which to lodge your complaint.

    Good Luck,

Thanks for the # Gap1916, and it did start out as a bad extractor problem and then went to a firing pin problem and went on from there. At first I thought it was the crappy PMC ammo, then I tried Winchester and the problem kept snowballing. The only good thing here is that the wood is beautiful and who don't love an M1 carbine...cheap to shoot and easy to use. Thanks to all for the help and if I get an answer from the company I'll update.

I have the same gun with the same problem. IAI is very hard to get in touch with! I took it to a local gun smith and replaced the extractor. Gun works perfect now! I am happy with it.

The problem with the gun is that they use old parts with new parts, and the old parts sometimes are REALLY old. I am glad I have it, though.

According to your name, if you live in the Chicago area, try Maxon Shooter Supply in Des Plaines. They fixed mine![:D]
